Collaboration
This piece was created as part of a collaborative project I was part of in 2023. The installation consisted of three elements. The structural frame and interior were designed and constructed by me in collaboration with another artist, with whom I also hosted two separate workshops related to this project. The quilt cover for the den was created during a workshop held at the University of Huddersfield, where we asked participants to create imagery using a selection of materials and media provided, such as ink, paint, and pens. We gave participants the prompt to create imagery inspired by happy memories and childhood nostalgia. The third element of this body of work was a wall-hanging displayed to the right of the installation. This was developed through a community workshop hosted at Hive Community Café in Huddersfield town centre. Here, we co-facilitated the session, inviting participants to contribute imagery reflecting joy and personal expression. As a part of this workshop, I demonstrated textile techniques, such as Suffolk puffs, while supporting participants in their making. Following the exhibition at the University of Huddersfield, the installation was repurposed and relocated, finding a new home as a sensory tent within a local SEN school.
